Lt. Jessie Castillo of Wellington works at the Jordan Unit, and has found that a military background translates well into criminal justice work, which he got into in 1994.
Before becoming lieutenant at the Jordan Unit in 2001, Castillo worked at the Roach prison in Childress and at the Robertson Unit in Abilene, where he was promoted to field sergeant.
Castillo had tried to enlist in the military when he was 17, but a knee injury kept him out. In 2005, he gave it another go, this time with the National Guard.
