The Pampa Independent School District Board of Trustees is opening its superintendent search to candidates outside the district.
The current superintendent, Barry Haenisch, has announced his intention to retire at the end of the school year.
The board interviewed its internal candidates at the beginning of last week and had extended its initial deliberation period on them before meeting on Monday for discussion.
